Paolo Natali, PSIA Faculty for the Master of International Energy program, Joins Transatlantic Academy as Compagnia di San Paolo Fellow European gas and electricity market expert adds valuable contribution to research on competition for natural resources. WASHINGTON – Paolo Natali, an expert in European gas and electricity markets, and a strategy advisor for Statoil, has joined the Transatlantic Academy as this year’s Compagnia di San Paolo Fellow. The Transatlantic Academy is currently focused on the competition for natural resources, and Natali’s current position at Statoil and former work at the World Bank, Council of the European Union, and NATO make him a valuable addition to this year’s research team. “We are delighted to have Paolo Natali with us as the Compagnia di San Paolo Fellow this spring,” said Stephen Szabo, executive director of the Transatlantic Academy. “He brings both a strong academic and private sector background to our discussions on energy and natural resource policy in Europe.” Paolo Natali began his fellowship on March 1, and will be in residence until April 30. Transatlantic Academy fellows are in residence at the headquarters of the German Marshall Fund of the United States in Washignton, DC, which is one of the Academy’s founding partners. Paolo has published extensively on topics related to natural gas, electricity and energy policy, and teaches two master's courses, on network energies and energy security, at the Paris School of International Affairs (Sciences Po). He was educated at the University of Bologna (BA), Johns Hopkins SAIS (MA), and received his Ph.D. in economic history from the University of Cambridge. The Transatlantic Academy is supported by GMF, the ZEIT-Stiftung Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius, the Robert Bosch Stiftung, the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation, and the Fritz Thyssen Stiftung. The Academy also receives funding from the Compagnia di San Paolo, the Joachim Herz Stiftung, and the Volkswagen Stiftung. The Academy serves as a forum for a select group of scholars from both sides of the Atlantic, and from different academic and policy disciplines, to examine a single set of issues. Working together from a transatlantic and interdisciplinary perspective, Academy fellows use research, publications, and seminars to make policy-relevant contributions to critical debates facing the transatlantic community. |
