Organizations and publications
As part of PSIA’s platform for public debate, students have a wide array of opportunities outside of the classroom to explore their interests, attend lectures, and participate in student organizations. With Paris as their intellectual base, students frequently interact with world leaders and scholars through PSIA’s extensive series of public events.
The Association Affaires Internationales de Sciences Po (AAISP) is the main student organization and hosts the InFocus student journal.
The AAISP magazine, InFocus, is published by PSIA students. Each edition contains a 'dossier' on a specific theme, current affairs analyses and comments on a wide variety of issues, as well as media reviews and a new 'I-Witness' section, with contributions coming from Sciences Po and beyond.
Opportunities
PSIA’s Mission is to ensure a multi-, trans- and interdisciplinary professional program for careers in:
- international organizations;
- non-governmental organisations operating at an international level;
- public administrations that require international training (e.g. Foreign Affairs, Development agencies, Defense);
- research institutes and think-tanks
- transnational firms, etc.
As the career prospects of PSIA graduates cover a broad spectrum in terms of sector and institutional structures, each student must actively build a trajectory adapted to his/her career objectives. PSIA faculty and staff individually accompany and advise PSIA students, and students may also consult with Sciences Po career placement services. A career forum for international affairs is organized every year as well as a number of sector-oriented panel discussions and events. Sciences Po Avenir is the dedicated Sciences Po career center at the service of students.
Admitted Students
Welcome to PSIA! The online course registration for 1st year PSIA students will occur in three phases.
Please note that all three phases need to be followed by all PSIA students:
June 11th-June 12th, 2012: Pre-Registration—Online selection of concentrations by each student
July 5th, 9:30 am-1:30 pm (GMT + 2 hours): Course Registration (for master program courses and all other courses)
July 9th, 2012, 10 am- 2 pm (GMT + 2 hours): Course Registration (for concentration courses only)
At this time, we would like to tell you more about phase 1: the selection of your 2 concentrations (link to concentrations) on June 11th.
All phases correspond to the diversity of the curriculum at the Paris School of International Affairs, which is unique in the world. PSIA students are admitted to a master program and then choose two concentrations among all 20 concentration programs. PSIA students tailor their course of study through in-depth exploration of a master program, and have the opportunity to sub-specialize not once, but twice, by enrolling in two concentration programs.
With 8 master programs and 20 concentrations, PSIA students have more than 1500 different possible combinations of master and concentrations for their academic program. No two PSIA students are alike, as PSIA offers you the freedom to design your very own career profile, ensuring a cutting-edge on the job market.
Selecting your concentration programs and the courses you will follow will be key: we take immense care in designing a curriculum of excellence, with hundreds of professors and professionals who are acclaimed by our students and who have contributed to global affairs at the highest level. The three phases of pedagogical registration are a very important time for you, to make it yours!
1. Before selecting your concentrations in June, we strongly encourage you to familiarize yourself with the vast array of 20 concentration programs available to you at PSIA during your course of study. To find a detailed description of each concentration, please explore the concentrations. Regional understanding is intrinsic to global affairs, and PSIA builds on the strong regional expertise of Sciences Po in the field. Please note that we highly encourage students to enroll in one regional concentration.
Closer to the pre-registration period, PSIA will send you a link to a video online with an explanation of the course registration procedure for Phase 2 and Phase 3. You will also be able to consult the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) space online. All communication materials will be in English.
For questions that may arrive during registration (June 11th, June 12th, July 5th, and July 9th), a special hotline will be activated for you:
